Beacon 2.1 [free]

Description

Transmit your location to anyone that can receive text messages regardless of mobile phone type (Smart or Traditional) and regardless of Operating System (Android, I-Phone, Windows). Neither you nor the recipient of the location needs a Cloud account. You control who gets this information and when they get it. A practical example of this Application is communicating your location to friends or family without you knowing exactly where you are. Just open Beacon, select your recipient and press SEND on the App. Your recipient will get a text message telling them where you are via address, also Latitude and Longitude coordinates and a hyperlink to a Google Maps link with the location preloaded for which the recipient can use the phone's preferred navigation system to arrive at your destination. The situations when you may need beacon could be emergency situations, for-the-record updates, or simply sending the coordinates for a fun meeting. Since it is based on GPS or WI-FI location services it can work in urban or off-the-grid locations. The recipient can be anyone in your contact list, a manually inputted phone number, or even a 911 operator. In addition to single, manually triggered bursts. The user can enable a consistent transmission (i.e. every 30mins) to a selected contact or phone number. This will send the location of the phone while the app is running in foreground or background or until the STOP button is selected. Useful when you are moving and don't mind your location being sent a these set intervals. Also useful in an unsafe environment where you want someone to know where you are, and that you are safe and in motion. UPCOMING IMPROVEMENTS::: Group creation and a favorite list.
